Reading Notes

You need to take take hand-written notes, covering more than one full page of notebook paper, for all reading assignments from Content (choose the PDF version because it has page numbers). The notes you take are meant to demonstrate that you have read the assignment on the agenda. When you come to class, please have more than a full page of written notes on standard notebook paper. To receive daily activity credit for notes, you have to
  1. Turn them in at the beginning of class and stay to discuss the material!
  2. Record your observations instead of summarizing
  3. Whenever you want to record an idea in your notes, you must quote the author (exact words, with quotation marks) and give a page number
  4. Quoting the author is not enough in itself; record your thought about the quotation. Keep your thought brief so that you have enough space in your notes to cover the whole reading assignment.
  5. If you write big or leave lots of white space, you'll need to write more pages of notes
  6. Be sure your notes reflect that you read the whole assignment--go past the minimum if you need to cover more
  7. Put your name, date, and the reading assignment at the top of the first page.
